Bergman, a 30-year-old goods forwarder, is one of the pioneers in the revolution in goods shipping. Contrary to package delivery, the freight sector has never been a hot topic. Goods deliveries have been delayed during the past ten years as American commerce has migrated to internet sales.It's a subtle shift. Since the 1980s, goods transportation has outranked home purchases as the fifth-largest source of family spending, according to the Federal Reserve's quarterly Survey of Consumer Finances.However, with the growth of internet commerce and the expansion of railway services, the freight services sector has grown to a $300 billion business.
