120kg of Gold and 25kg of silver strings are used to write the Quranic verses on Ghilaf-e-Kaaba or Kiswa. Ghilaf-e-Kaaba is used to cover the hallowed Kaaba. The present Ghilaf-e-Kaaba is black, but it had been through different colours. Kiswa of heavenly Kaaba is changed every year on the 9th Zill-Hajj. You may be amazed to know that the colour of Kiswa had also been red.
